Brook Sigal - Ceramic Artist | Circular Practice | Earth-Centered Narratives

My practice is slow, deliberate, and regenerative. I like to think that the time I employ for my creative work is not linear but spiralled—each fracture, misfire, and 'imperfect' shard becomes a bridge to new creation. Like the soil that births and buries, my art is a closed loop: clay to causality to rebirth to connection.

A ceramist-sans-frontieres since 1999, I studied ceramics to post-graduate level at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2015 with an eco-project linking water and minerals.

In 2007 and 2009, I worked at the manufacture de Martino (Salerno, Italy)  and over the years, followed the workshops of Jane Perryman (smoke-firing), Marcus O’Mahoney (anagama, salt-firing), Linda Bloomfield (glazes) and Shozo Michikawa (deconstruction). In 2023, my first 'reconstructed' work  was selected for the Faenza Premio 62 by MiC (Museo Internazionale della Ceramica).

Today. after years of studio practice and teaching at La Mine in Paris, France till 2022, I prefer a more nomadic and challenging trajectory from residencies to residencies. This creative choice gives me perspective and allows me to elaborate series of work with deadlines, exploratory processes, tools, inspiration and cultural exchanges.
