ABOUT

I was born in Puerto Rico in 1962 and moved very quickly to Europe.
My creative career has been richly varied : largely self-taught in ceramics, I have worked in a tile manufacturing factory in southern Italy on commissioned floor designs, set up and ran tableware production workshop for a private label in Italy, have had periods as artist in residence in Italy and France. I invented a bio-filter to mineralize tap water for my MA in ceramic design at Central Saint Martins that was exhibited at the Wales Arts Council, Design and Food innovation events in Milan and London, and was published in the book “75 designers for a sustainable world”, and worked on documentaries. Alongside these activities, I have consistently made one-off pieces that have evolved over the years from figurative to abstract, and it is this latter activity which is, and has always been central to my life as a ceramist. The connection with the abstract constructions of today and the formal shapes of the earlier days is usually 'Presence'.
I am based between London and Paris - in residence, making three new series: Green Piece, Uncertain Fall and Without painting, Paint. I will be showing this new work in Milan and Paris in 2021.
